KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan hockey alum Lukas Hafner has become the second Bronco in recent years to win the ECHL's Kelly Cup, after helping the Colorado Eagles sweep the South Carolina Stingrays.

Hafner joins Riley Gill, who won the Kelly Cup with the Allen Americans last season and with the Reading Royals in 2013, as recent champions. The Toledo, Ohio, native posted a 1.97 goals against average and a .923 save percentage in the sweep. The Eagles went 14-2 in the ECHL Playoffs with Hafner in net.

Hafner appeared in 86 games between 2012-2016 for the Broncos, finishing with 25 wins and four career shutouts. One of those shutouts came at the 2013 Great Lakes Invitational outdoors at Comerica Park in a 1-0 shutout against Michigan Tech. Hafner was named the MVP of the tournament.
